My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We celebrate Labor Day on Monday.  Labor Day is an annual public holiday that honors the labor movement and the social and economic achievements of workers.  The origins of Labor Day began during the Industrial Revolution and we recognize the vital role workers play in building the strength, prosperity and wellbeing of the United States.  Happy Labor Day to all of you.  Please note that the Parishes Offices will be closed on Monday and that Mass will be at Mary Our Queen at 9am.  There will not be a Communion Service at St John Vianney.

Mary Our Queen will be hosting our Fall Festival next Saturday, September 12 starting with an outdoor Mass at 4pm.  Please note that there will not be confessions at Mary Our Queen that day due to an early Mass for the Fall Festival.  Join us for an evening of fun, food and fellowship.

We began a new OCIA session (previously called RCIA) last Sunday.  If you, a loved one or perhaps a friend is interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith, kindly call Ann at 402 578 9846 or email ocia@moqchurch.org for more information.  Our OCIA program meets every Sunday starting at 9am, with exception for this weekend as it is Labor Day Weekend.

We will be beginning our Religious Education Programs at both St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen this Wednesday, September 9.  If you have not registered your child for the program, kindly call our Parish Office for more details.

In a few weeks’ time, we will be introducing a new Parish Prayer for Our Family of Parishes before each weekend Mass.  This new prayer is part of our Family of Parishes’ theme for Catechesis.  Our Family of Parishes are called to be a school of prayer that fosters a growing intimacy with God.  We hope this will be a starting point for a Parish wide theme for catechesis.  There will be a program guide that will be coming out presenting all the offerings which includes all our Family of Parishes clubs and organizations that you can get involved in. We will also be reformatting our bulletin so that it will reflect all that is going on as a Family of Parishes.  More details to follow.

I am looking for a few gardening angels to help us maintain various mulch beds on our campuses of both St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen.  We do our best to make it easy to maintain our grounds with spring and fall cleanup and growing plants that are perennials.  However, there some of our mulch beds are prone to weeds that need some pruning during the course of the year.  There will be a signup genius in the next week or so that will indicate the areas that need some TLC.  I hope that you will be willing to make time to help us keep our Parish grounds beautiful.

I am hoping to plant some new trees at both  campuses.  If you are able to help us defray some of that cost, I would appreciate it.

Blessings, Fr Marc
