My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Saturday June 6th, Archbishop McGovern ordained Deacon Michael Figura to the Priesthood.  Deacon Figura was ordained a transitional Deacon in October last year in Rome.  Our Parish connection to Deacon Figura is through his father Randy, who was one of the sound techs that looked after our sound system at Mary Our Queen and St John Vianney.  Unfortunately, Randy passed away last year from a heart infection before he could see his son ordained.  I recall him talking about the excitement of witnessing the ordination.  Congratulations to Fr. Michael Figura and his family.  A story of Fr. Michael Figura appears in the Summer 2026 edition of The True Voice magazine. Copies of the magazine can be found at our parishes.

 

On Friday May 29th, the Archbishop ordained seminarian Caleb Kosch a transitional Deacon for our Archdiocese.  In becoming a transitional Deacon, Kosch takes a big step toward the priesthood next year.  Congratulations to Deacon Caleb Kosch and his family.

 

Congratulations to Fr Steve Boes who celebrated his 41^st Anniversary as a Priest on June 1^st.  We are grateful for his service to our Family of Parishes.

 

Last week we had our second joint Vacation Bible School at St John Vianney with over a hundred children attending the program.  Thank you to all our volunteers for making this possible.  Please note that we will be offering the Totus Tuus Program in the beginning of July.  Please see the bulletin for more information.

 

Friday, June 12th at the Mary Our Queen 8:15am Mass and at the St. John Vianney 9:15am Mass we will be celebrating the Consecration of the United States of America to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Please join us!

 

At my last weekend’s bulletin, I mentioned some of the projects that will be going on in our Family of Parishes.  Here are some updates.

• Work started for the removal of the vent fan in the gym last week.  The opening was sealed off from the inside of the gym and the walls were painted.  Work started this week to seal off the opening outside of the building (wall behind the grotto).
• Work began for the heating boiler replacement for Mary Our Queen School and the Kenny Center with the disconnecting of the old boilers.  The old boilers will be removed at the later part of the summer.  With the new boilers arriving, it should be a matter of time before everything will be installed.
• Thank you to the Mary Our Queen Men’s Club for helping to tear down the four classrooms this week in preparation for updating the classrooms.
• We have retrofitted all the old lighting in the parking lot and the bollards around the sidewalk at St John Vianney and we are working to replace all the fixtures that need replacing inside our Church.  We also replaced the lighting by the Blessed Sacrament Chapel entrance.
• A few weeks ago, we had to replace the compressor for our Narthex HVAC unit at St John Vianney that went out.  We are now needing to take a look at the mechanicals at St John Vianney as we are seeing more units going out given that the mechanicals are over 20 years old.  We replaced the Church and basement classrooms HVAC unit last year.  This week, we found another compressor for a HVAC unit for the Parish Offices that has gone out.  We are working on a bid to have it replaced.

 

Please note that with our summer schedule, our Parish and School offices will be closed on Fridays.  Our Parish Office hours will be Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4pm and our school office hours will be Monday to Thursday from 8 to 3pm.  Please note that for the month of July the School office will be closed.
