My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
A Blessed Father’s Day to all the Fathers in our Parish. We give thanks to God our Father who sent us His Son to show His love for us. At every baptism liturgy, one of the blessings we make is to the father who together with the mother are the first educators of the faith in their child’s life. Thank you to all fathers for being the example of faith in the life of their children. We also pray for all our fathers who are no longer with us.
Our Family of Parishes will be offering the Totus Tuus Program from July 6th to the 10th at St John Vianney Parish. Totus Tuus (Totally Yours) is a fun and energetic parish based summer catechetical program, for both grade school age children and junior and senior high school youth. We gather together college students and seminarians into teams of four in order to train them and send them out on the road to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in various parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Omaha. Their youthfulness, energy, and ability to witness to the Faith make our teachers particularly effective with children and young people. Throughout the years Totus Tuus has succeeded in reaching out to children and youth in order to help them know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. They have also tried to help local parishes by providing a fun and strong catechetical program.
The parish and school staff had our calendar planning a week ago for our Family of Parishes. We continue to build up our programs and see how we can maximize the use of our facilities. Unfortunately, at the meeting I was informed that Leia Vranes, who has been coordinating our Living Nativity at SJV for the last four years, is unable to continue it. First of all, I would like to thank Leia for all she has done in continuing our Living Nativity. We are grateful for all she and our volunteers have done. The hope is for us to find a volunteer to continue the Living Nativity. If you are able to, kindly contact the Parish Office.
The work for the heating boiler replacement for Mary Our Queen School and the Kenny Center is going smoothly. This week, we began the installation of the boilers with all the pumps and the pipes having been reconfigured in the mechanical room in the Kenny Center basement.
We are also in the midst of remodeling four classrooms of the upper floor in the main school building at Mary Our Queen with new flooring, ceiling tile and lighting. Each classroom will also have a new projector and screen installed.
We will install a platform and guardrails around the gym rooftop HVAC unit. This is a fall protection system that is required for the safety of those servicing our HVAC unit.
I am looking to plant a few trees at St John Vianney Parish to replace some of the trees we had to remove over the years. The cost of having a tree planted is about $600. I am hoping to plant four trees this summer. If you are able to help us defray some of that cost I would appreciate it.
There will be some mud jack work on a couple of concrete walkways and the entrance of our Church at St John Vianney next week. This is to prevent trip hazards from occurring. We are also actively sealing up all the cracks on our concrete pavement around the Church building at both our Parishes.
As always, we continue to make improvements and updates to our Parish facilities. Will keep you updated.
Please note that with our summer schedule, our Parish and School offices will be closed on Fridays. Our office hours at the Family of Parishes will be Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4pm and the school office hours will be Monday to Thursday from 8 to 3pm. Please note that for the month of July the School office will be closed.
