Story of an Icon:

Christ In Glory With All The Saints

#10 The story continues.

A booklet about the icon is being prepared and will soon be available in print. In the next several bulletins, we will share excerpts from Story of an Icon.

With All The Saints (Panel  2) hangs to the right of the central panel. It was blessed November 1, 2025, the Feast of All Saints.  This panel is named the Patron Panel since St. Cecilia, the patron of the Archdiocese is depicted on this panel.  Five parishioners who contributed $45,000 over three years have their names listed on the back of the panel and are listed on the electronic memory board in the narthex.

Beginning at the bottom left is St. John the Baptist. In accordance with Byzantine tradition, he is depicted to the right of Christ.  His raised right hand forms the letter of Christ in Greek and the scroll in his left hand announces that Christ, the Lamb of God, has come.

Next to him is St. Cecilia (200-235 est.), the patroness of the Archdiocese of Omaha.  She was an early martyr of the Church, symbolized by the cross in her right hand.  She was musically talented, which is symbolically represented by the hand harp she holds.  She is the patroness of music and musicians.

Next to her is St. Charles de Foucauld (1858 – 1916).  He is the spiritual guide for the Jesus Caritas Fraternity of Priests, which Fr. Richard has been involved with for many years.  St.  de Foucauld died in 1916, was beatified in 2005 and canonized in 2022.  Fr. Richard attended both celebrations in Rome.
